About the position

The part-time Librarian position at the City of Round Rock, TX, involves providing exemplary customer service and programs to the public under general supervision. The role includes delivering high-level reference services, conducting digital literacy training, and maintaining library resources and outreach efforts.

Responsibilities

• Employ technologies to deliver high level reference service, reader's advisory, and programs to the public.
• Conduct training for the public related to digital literacy and provide technical computer assistance.
• Create and implement programs by identifying potential areas of interests and or needs of patrons.
• Assist with the development of a portion of the collection.
• Maintain and update a portion of the library website and other social media outlets.
• Serve as liaison to other city departments, community groups, and outside agencies; provide outreach services to the community; conduct tours of the library.
• Perform general library duties, including but not limited to, opening and closing procedures; troubleshoot computer issues; assist at the circulation desk; participate in training staff and volunteers.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet goals and objectives of the library.

Requirements

• Master's Degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
• One (1) year of public library experience is preferred, but not required.
• Possession of, or the ability to obtain by start of employment, a valid Texas driver license.
