About the position

The University of Oklahoma Libraries is seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to fill the role of Coordinator for the Open Access Policy Implementation Project within the Digital Strategies and Innovation Division. This position is temporary and full-time, requiring the selected candidate to work closely with the Associate Dean for Digital Strategies and Innovation. The Coordinator will be responsible for executing outreach deliverables that align with the implementation of the Open Access (OA) policy, which is a critical initiative aimed at enhancing access to scholarly works. The ideal candidate will possess a strong goal-oriented mindset and a commitment to achieving measurable outcomes in their work. In this role, the Coordinator will undertake a variety of responsibilities that include coordinating guest speakers for outreach activities, developing digital learning objects for workshops, and collaborating with the OU Marketing & Communications department to create promotional materials for OA policy initiatives. The position also involves organizing pilot workshops and engaging with librarians to ensure their participation in these events. The Coordinator may also be involved in presenting information about the OA policy to librarians and faculty, as well as assisting in testing and providing feedback on the SHAREOK™ workflow and system integrations that manage faculty work deposits in compliance with the OA policy. Participation in team meetings and collaborative efforts to implement the OA policy on schedule is also a key aspect of this role. Overall, this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of open access initiatives within an academic library setting, while also developing valuable skills in project coordination, outreach, and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates guest speakers for outreach activities and expert consultants for train-the-trainer events.
  • Assists in developing digital learning objects for outreach activities and workshops on the open access policy.
  • Partners with the OU Marketing & Communications department to develop marketing and promotional materials for the OA policy implementation activities.
  • Confers with the OU Marketing & Communications department for publicizing and promoting OA events.
  • Coordinates pilot workshops and works with librarians to participate in planned pilot workshops.
  • May participate in presentations to librarians and faculty on the OA policy.
  • Assists in testing and feedback sessions for SHAREOK™ workflow and system integrations handling deposits and uploads of faculty works in compliance with the OA policy.
  • Participates in team meetings and team efforts to implement the OA policy on schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous academic library experience
  • Experience building and sustaining effective interpersonal relationships
  • Experience planning, coordinating, executing outreach activities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with end-users at varying technological skill levels
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Highly organized and ability to track multiple projects and deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to service excellence.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science
  • Knowledge of scholarly communication concepts in academic libraries, specifically open access and copyright.
