About the position

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking a full-time Librarian responsible for planning and implementing effective information literacy instruction, providing reference and circulation services, and overseeing library functions in the absence of the Director. The role includes maintaining the library's collection, conducting library orientations, and assisting students, faculty, and staff in utilizing library resources. The Librarian will also participate in professional development and departmental meetings, ensuring quality customer service and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as person in charge (PIC) of the library in absence of the Assistant Library Director and the Dean of Library and Student Learning Services
  • Oversee archive collection and services both onsite and online
  • Refine, implement, and uphold archival policies and procedures
  • Create finding aids for the archive collection
  • Create digital collections in the college's institutional repository
  • Classify and catalog print and nonprint archive materials
  • Update, maintain, and provide access to the college's archival catalogs
  • Work assigned public service desks including circulation, reference, Makerspace Lab and Archives
  • Perform professional library tasks in assigned service/program area
  • Provide library service instruction to students, faculty, and staff
  • Assist students, faculty, and staff in the use of various reference sources
  • Conduct library tours and assist library patrons
  • Prepare curriculum-oriented bibliographic guides
  • Consult with teaching faculty regarding needed materials
  • Maintain and provide access to the College's archival catalogs
  • Plan and implement procedures related to digital assets
  • Review new publications and collection materials
  • Assist in the development and implementation of special programs and services
  • Compile library activity reports and statistics
  • Direct and review the work of assigned technical and clerical library staff
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Master of Library Science degree from an accredited college or university
  • Two years of professional library experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in coordinating with librarians and faculty for information literacy instruction
  • Leadership in planning, programming, delivery, evaluation, and assessment of library instruction programs
