This position is responsible for duties in the New Request Fulfillment unit within the KU Libraries, Acquisitions and Resource Sharing department. The role involves acquiring materials needed by library users through various methods and managing a high-volume, fast-paced, data-driven environment focused on meeting immediate user needs. The successful candidate will work primarily onsite and engage in continuous learning and growth within a supportive culture.

  • Process borrowing requests in ILLiad received via webforms.
  • Process lending & Document Delivery requests to the point of paging preparation.
  • Process purchase requests for electronic books submitted by library bibliographers or through direct patron requests.
  • Verify bibliographic citations of materials in all formats and determine ownership by KU Libraries.
  • Verify citations, format, price, patron notification requirements, and availability before placing requests.
  • Follow established procedures for identifying appropriate sources and access points for requests.
  • Exercise day-to-day quality control to meet established benchmarks and maintain effective workflow.
  • Proactively identify ways to improve service and efficiency in consultation with the supervisor.
  • Maintain effective communication lines and working relationships with staff across KU Libraries.
  • Assist staff in proper use of ILLiad for handling different nature of request fulfillment.
  • Provide backup support to team members in the New Request Fulfillment unit.
  • Assist main service coordinators and fulfill coordinating duties in their absence.
  • Prepare and manage projects for student employees in response to unit or department workflow needs.
  • Support and utilize project management best practices.
  • Monitor shared and individual email accounts for Interlibrary Loan Borrowing and Lending accounts.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in response to requests or questions within primary responsibility.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. by the effective date of the appointment.
  • Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced, data-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills for managing interpersonal communication.
  • Experience with ILLiad or similar library management systems.
  • Familiarity with bibliographic citation verification.
