About the position
The Library Associate at Connecticut State Community College plays a vital role in supporting library functions and services for students, faculty, and the community. This position involves overseeing library operations, providing excellent customer service, and leading support staff in various library functions, including circulation, interlibrary loans, and technical services. The Library Associate contributes to the library's mission of enhancing student success and is expected to engage in professional development and community involvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide and oversee efficient and courteous service to library patrons.
- Manage circulation, interlibrary loan, and technical services operations.
- Train and lead library support staff in their duties.
- Participate in library events, including convocation and commencement ceremonies.
- Attend and contribute to committee and professional meetings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a subject area related to library services or equivalent experience.
- Experience in one or more functional areas of librarianship at a beginning professional level.
- Demonstrated ability to train and guide library support staff.
Nice-to-haves
- Two or more years of academic library experience.
- Experience managing interlibrary loan and acquisitions services.
- Familiarity with the integrated library system Ex-Libris ALMA/PRIMO.
