About the position

The Library Coordinator at Princeton University Library (PUL) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Peter B. Lewis Science Library and the Engineering Library. This role includes managing a team of 7-8 full-time employees, coordinating building maintenance, public services, and events for STEM departments, and collaborating with various units within the library. The Coordinator will also develop and implement policies related to daily operations, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for library patrons.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 7-8 direct reports in support of Princeton University Library's Mission, Vision, North Star statements, and DEI Statement.
  • Direct operational support for facility maintenance, security, and equipment.
  • Supervise public services for the Peter B. Lewis Science Library and the Engineering Library, responding to patron questions and troubleshooting issues.
  • Coordinate with student supervisors to assist in managing the public services student staff.
  • Support the growth of services and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment in the Lewis Science and Engineering Libraries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of supervisory experience in leading and managing teams.
  • Evidence of strong leadership skills with a demonstrated record of success in building culture and leading staff development initiatives.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the provision of high-quality public service.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, project and time management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of scholars and colleagues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfort with rapidly changing expectations and guidelines for library services.
  • Experience with general/standard productivity tools, and learning new technologies as needed.
  • Ability to think creatively, work independently and collaboratively, and function effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate services and programs as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in an academic library, preferably in STEM-related fields.
  • Knowledge of database applications and experience working with information management tools and concepts.
