About the position

The City of Folsom is seeking multiple Library Pages for temporary, part-time positions at the Folsom Public Library. This role involves performing various routine manual and clerical tasks to support library operations, primarily focusing on checking in, sorting, and shelving materials to maintain workflow and order within the library. The position is flexible, typically requiring less than 20 hours of work per week, and candidates must be available to work weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

  • Empty book drops and check in library materials using a computerized library system.
  • Process library materials for circulation.
  • Repair damaged library materials.
  • Locate and retrieve materials for patron requests.
  • Assist with library programs and displays.
  • Assist with training Library Pages and volunteers.
  • Sort/shelve library materials accurately according to library classifications systems.
  • Perform shelf reading and reorganize shelves for correct location of materials.
  • Perform routine clerical and support tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year of library shelver experience or equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain and retain a California Class C driver license if required

  • Relevant college courses or career experience related to organization and filing of materials
