The Library Services Associate (LSA) at the University of Arizona plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service across various public service sites within the University Libraries. This position is designed to support academic and scholarly activities by assisting customers with research needs, technology, and circulation services. The LSA also coordinates the work of student employees and engages in departmental projects, adapting to the evolving needs of library patrons.

  • Provide reference, technology, and circulation assistance to customers in-person, online, and via phone/email.
  • Assist customers with locating library information, resources, and materials.
  • Negotiate overdue accounts and answer billing and collections questions.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware issues with library technology.
  • Direct the work of student employees and liaise with department leads.
  • Enforce compliance with Libraries Code of Conduct and other policies.
  • Act as a liaison with University Police and other departments regarding emergencies and building issues.
  • Conduct building walks to ensure compliance and document maintenance issues.
  • Process interlibrary loan requests and support technology lending operations.
  • Collect and analyze departmental and library use data for strategic planning.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in library services or a related field.
  • Knowledge of library reference resources and their appropriate use.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to collaborate with peers.
  • Ability to apply policies and procedures effectively, including trauma-informed enforcement.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult customer interactions and maintain confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with various technologies and peripheral hardware.
  • Experience with circulation issues and library code of conduct enforcement.
  • Experience overseeing student employees.
  • Familiarity with integrated library systems and record interpretation.
  • Experience providing reference assistance using various research methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with computer hardware and software support.
  • Experience processing interlibrary loan requests and understanding copyright issues.
