About the position

The Library Services Desk Assistant at Bucknell University is a part-time role responsible for providing front-line services at the Library Services Desk, primarily during weekends and potentially evenings. This position involves assisting library users with reference and informational questions, managing library materials, and ensuring the appropriate use of library resources and facilities. The role also includes overseeing undergraduate student workers and supporting the university's sustainability and diversity initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Opening and/or closing the library according to the established library hours schedule.
  • Provide assistance to users who need help with reference and informational questions (in-person, email, and chat).
  • Check in and check out of library materials.
  • Respond to building emergencies and ensure appropriate use of library resources and facilities.
  • Oversee undergraduate student workers during evening and weekend shifts.
  • Support and work to advance Bucknell's sustainability efforts.
  • Support and contribute to the University's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree plus two years of customer service related work experience.
