About the position

The Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician or Therapist position at Optum in Huntsville, Alabama, is designed for professionals who are passionate about improving mental health care delivery. This role involves treating a diverse patient population with various mental health conditions through individual and group therapy, medication management, and intensive outpatient programs. The clinician will work collaboratively within a team to enhance patient care and contribute to the training of graduate students, all while maintaining high standards of clinical documentation and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Form excellent provider-patient alliances and coordinate care with external providers
  • Conduct outpatient psychiatric evaluations and provide ongoing medication management
  • Participate in enriching the training experience of our graduate students
  • Screen and assess patients for common mental health and substance abuse disorders
  • Provide treatment for a variety of mental health conditions using treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and other evidence-based methods
  • Systematically track treatment response and monitor patients for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complications
  • Opportunities to represent the practice in community presentations and lectures
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (Athena) and clinical documentation, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related counseling field
  • Clear, active and unrestricted license (LICSW, LMFT, LMHC, or LPC) in the state of practice
  • 2+ years of professional social work / clinical experience post Master's degree

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience providing direct psychotherapy services to individuals and families
  • Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation - Excel, Outlook, Athena RMS (or other EHRs)
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with equal effectiveness
