About the position

The Licensed Behavioral Health Counselor position at the Samaritan Center in Detroit involves providing behavioral health counseling services on a part-time basis (20 hours per week). The role includes conducting patient assessments, administering individual and group therapy, and collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure effective treatment and care continuity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide behavioral health counseling services.
  • Conduct patient assessments and establish therapy treatment goals.
  • Administer individual and group therapy.
  • Maintain thorough and confidential records of observations.
  • Evaluate progress and effectiveness of therapy interventions.
  • Provide patients with information regarding resources and therapeutic activities in the community.
  • Work directly with the patient, family, physician, and community providers to ensure active and collaborative care from the initiation of treatment to discharge.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
  • Licensed Master Social Worker credentialed from the Michigan Board of Social Work.
  • Licensed Counselor credentialed from the Michigan Board of Counseling.
  • Licensed Psychologist credentialed from the Michigan Board of Psychology.
  • Therapist specializing in Marriage & Family credentialed from any issuing authority.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Addiction Counselor preferred.
  • BLS Provider preferred.
