The Licensed Mechanical Engineer - Power position at Olsson involves working within the Industrial team to contribute to innovative projects in the power generation sector. The role emphasizes collaboration, technical expertise, and mentorship, aiming to enhance community infrastructure through engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power plant design and will be responsible for reviewing mechanical designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate mechanical designs for power generation systems, ensuring functionality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and refine engineering solutions that meet project specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and support during all phases of the design process, from concept to implementation.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot design issues, proposing innovative solutions to enhance performance.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and technologies to ensure designs are current and compliant.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and documentation for stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers in technical and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 4-12+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, specifically in power generation or power plant design.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and materials science.
  • Proficiency in Revit and/or other related software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team.
