About the position

The Licensed Outpatient Therapist position at Optum in Mankato, MN, is a full-time role within the Optum Behavioral Care Team. This position is integral to improving healthcare delivery for individuals and clinicians, focusing on a holistic approach to address the physical, mental, and social needs of patients. The role offers flexibility in work hours and the option to work onsite or in a hybrid model, allowing therapists to engage with clients effectively while maintaining a balanced work-life dynamic.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intakes, diagnostic evaluations, and monitor treatment planning while engaging in appropriate client therapy practices.
  • Form effective therapeutic alliances to support each client's unique needs and goals, positively impacting client outcomes and retention.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge related to individual goals, treatment plans, and diagnoses.
  • Engage in crisis interventions, stabilization, and de-escalation for clients experiencing mental health symptoms, prioritizing client safety.
  • Document all client interactions timely and accurately as per legal and ethical standards.
  • Provide one-to-one supportive counseling and perform behavioral management interventions as needed.
  • Create a positive atmosphere with staff and clients.
  • Participate in group consultations, team meetings, and demonstrate professionalism and preparation.
  • Incorporate feedback from management and leadership to improve client care standards.
  • Maintain a full client caseload and meet an average quota of 28 points weekly.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Behavioral Science or a related field (Psychology, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Education, etc.).
  • Active, independent clinical license as a Mental Health Professional in Minnesota (LP, LPCC, LICSW, LMFT).
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to work onsite or in a hybrid model, with at least 2 days onsite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in outpatient mental health settings.
  • Experience in clinical documentation.
  • Diagnostic assessment experience.
  • Experience in treatment planning and maintaining a caseload.
  • Familiarity with AthenaHealth/AthenaOne and/or Opus.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply information from policy and procedure manuals.
  • Experience presenting information to various stakeholders.
