About the position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the Dermology Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to veterans with dermatological issues. This role involves independent technical judgment and collaboration with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient care. The LPN/LVN will manage the day-to-day operations of the dermatology program, assist with procedures, provide education, and participate in quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the dermatology program.
  • Collaborate with dermatology providers to monitor veterans with ongoing dermatological problems.
  • Provide education and develop educational tools for patients and staff.
  • Assist with biopsies and other necessary procedures for dermatological health.
  • Respond to veterans' physical and emotional needs, recognizing deviations from normal conditions.
  • Plan and organize workload independently, ensuring effective patient care delivery.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities in dermatology to promote care standards.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for the dermatology program and act as a consultant in clinical areas.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Graduation from an approved school of practical or vocational nursing.
  • Full, active, current, and unrestricted licensure as an LPN/LVN in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination.
