About the position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position in the Mental Health Department at the Department of Veterans Affairs Nashville VAMC is responsible for delivering fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned patients while developing technical competencies. The role involves participating in interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans, interacting with patients in group settings, and responding to their nursing and medication needs. This position requires a commitment to patient care and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned patients.
- Participate in the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient's treatment plan.
- Interact with patients in groups according to the treatment plan.
- Observe, identify, and respond to patients' needs for nursing, medication, and equipment-assisted care.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Active, full, current, and unrestricted licensure as a Graduate Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse.
- Graduation from a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
