This role involves assisting clinic Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Registered Nurses in providing care to patients in a family practice environment. The LPN may be the only nursing staff member present in the clinic, which requires a high level of responsibility and independence. In addition to direct patient care, the LPN will perform administrative tasks related to patient medical record maintenance and ensure continuity of care typical of a family practice clinic. The position requires flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, especially in a busy clinic setting. The LPN will assist with the opening of the clinic and ensure that all areas, including patient examination rooms and laboratory areas, are ready for daily activities. Responsibilities include performing quality checks on laboratory test equipment, collecting laboratory specimens, and preparing them for shipment to the hospital laboratory. The LPN will also enter orders into the Meditech system, take and record patient vital signs, and assist with patient assessments and interventions within the scope of LPN practice. This role requires the LPN to set up patients in examination rooms, record their presenting problems, and assist practitioners during examinations or procedures as needed. In addition to clinical duties, the LPN will administer medications, including oral and injectable forms, as ordered by the practitioner, and maintain knowledge of vaccine schedules for both children and adults. The LPN will also be responsible for cleaning and restocking examination rooms, assisting with patient calls, prescription refills, and scheduling referrals.
