About the position

The main emergency department is a 43-bed level III trauma ED with level II SAFE designation. The main ED has a sister unit, a free-standing emergency department located in Denmark, SC. This position is for a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week, consisting of 3x12-hour shifts, with an obligation to work every other weekend. The role involves utilizing the nursing process under the direction of the RN to deliver patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care according to established policies and procedures under the direction of a RN.
  • Administer medication according to scope of practice, perform reassessments, collect data, take histories, initiate IV access, provide wound care, and assist in activities of daily living.
  • Document findings and information in the medical record.
  • Communicate appropriate medical and clinical information to the staff as required.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy, maintaining confidentiality of patient and unit care data.
  • Provide first line customer service response.
  • Follow the RMC Standards of Behaviors.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program.
  • Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, either from the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an AHA recognized equivalent, or from the American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
