About the position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at the Columbus Developmental Center involves providing nursing care to individuals with developmental disabilities under the supervision of registered nurses and other healthcare professionals. The role includes administering medications, monitoring patient conditions, and assisting with daily living activities, all while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality. The LPN will also support the training of lower-level direct care staff and participate in various team meetings.
Responsibilities
- Administers nursing care within the scope of practice under the direction of healthcare professionals.
- Maintains medication accountability records and observes, documents, and reports patient conditions.
- Provides general nursing care and assists with daily living activities for patients.
- Orders medication and medical supplies, and performs clerical tasks as needed.
- Assists in emergencies by administering first-aid and performing CPR.
- Provides work direction and training to lower-level direct care staff.
Requirements
- License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Knowledge of skilled licensed practical nursing procedures, pharmacology, and client/patient care.
- Ability to understand practical field of study and deal with concrete variables.
- Skill in the use of medical equipment and operation of personal computers.
Nice-to-haves
- Certification in IV Therapy for administering dialysis treatment.
- Experience in behavioral health and direct support/direct care.
