The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at Our Lady of Lourdes is a vital role within our Internal Medicine Clinic, where you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in accordance with established standards and practices. As an LPN, you will assist physicians, nurses, and other staff members in the daily coordination of patient care and access, ensuring that patients receive the attention and services they need in a timely manner. Your responsibilities will include coordinating patient flow, scheduling appointments, procedures, tests, and referrals, as well as serving as a preceptor for clinical staff when necessary. This position requires a strong reliance on established guidelines and protocols to accomplish tasks effectively, while also utilizing your experience and judgment to make informed decisions under general supervision. In this role, you will be expected to demonstrate competency and accuracy in all technical tasks, including triaging calls and determining the appropriate medical decision-making process. You will be responsible for maintaining clear and accurate communication with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring that all interactions are courteous and professional. Your ability to assess the medical and nursing care provided by yourself and others will be crucial in identifying areas for improvement and communicating these needs to your superiors. Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care following established standards and practices.
  • Assist physician, nurse, and staff with daily coordination of patient care and access.
  • Coordinate patient flow, schedule appointments, procedures, tests, and referrals.
  • Serve as a preceptor for clinical staff as needed.
  • Triage calls and determine appropriate medical decision-making.
  • Demonstrate competency and accuracy in all work tasks.
  • Answer telephone calls courteously and route them appropriately.
  • Assess the medical and nursing care rendered by self and others, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Use appropriate Triage protocols via EMR to guide patient care.
  • Take responsibility for improving technical skills and critical thinking.
  • Assist other office staff members during their absence or work overloads.
  • Complete all nursing duties scheduled during the shift accurately and timely.
  • Use communication skills to achieve desired patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Plan the use of time at work effectively, setting priorities and assisting others as necessary.
  • Inspire confidence from patients and families through courteous and professional behavior.
  • Explain therapy, tests, and treatments clearly to patients and their families.
  • Participate in assigned committees and report suggestions for positive changes to leadership.
  • Maintain a comfortable, orderly, safe, clean, and private patient care environment.
  • Participate in the orientation of new personnel as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • Current Louisiana License as LPN.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Proficient in the English language, both verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills.
