About the position

The position involves supervising nursing staff in accordance with facility policy and assuming responsibility for the Assisted Living in the absence of the Director. The role includes overall administration and supervision of both units, ensuring quality care, training and supervision of professional and support personnel, and managing personnel issues with guidance from human resources. The position also entails administering personal hygienic, preventative, therapeutic, and rehabilitation services to residents and assisting in the coordination of nursing care provided by other disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Manage nursing units ensuring daily work assignments are completed and supervise the delivery of quality resident care
  • Communicate to Director changes in resident conditions, staffing issues, or concerns regarding personnel issues
  • Assist nurses in completing tasks including medication administration and managing staff to prevent overtime
  • Round with physicians and share necessary information for resident care
  • Monitor faxes and communications to physicians to ensure orders are signed promptly
  • Monitor completion of physician orders such as obtaining urine or stool samples
  • Assure compliance with appropriate activities on Lakeside and give instructions to staff as needed
  • Keep units clean and hazard-free, dealing appropriately with emergencies
  • Identify and anticipate the needs of residents and staff and provide appropriate interventions
  • Maintain weekly charting on residents receiving skilled nursing care as required by ODH
  • Orient new admissions to the unit and ensure all systems are operational for resident care
  • Participate in the hiring, evaluation, and termination process of personnel
  • Train, supervise, and provide ongoing in-service education to personnel
  • Administer corrective action when policies are broken
  • Assist nurse and unit personnel in interpreting and planning assignments
  • Attend supervisory/managerial meetings, conferences, and staff meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding resident and employee records
  • Maintain and be responsible for the proper use, care, and treatment of unit equipment

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing
  • Currently licensed/registered with the Ohio State Board of Nursing to practice
  • Familiarity with organization, functions, policies, procedures, and state regulations related to nursing services and Assisted Living rules
  • Commitment to the standards of gerontological nursing
  • Licensed to administer medications according to state laws
  • Current CPR certification
