About the position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at Premise Health involves providing essential healthcare services at an employer health clinic in Middleton, WI. The role focuses on patient care, including assessing medical conditions, assisting physicians, administering medications, and maintaining clinic operations. The LPN will work a full-time schedule with specific hours throughout the week, ensuring a balance between work and personal life.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients to determine medical problems and document findings in charts for physicians.
- Obtain and record patients' vital signs and weight.
- Assist physicians with patient examinations as needed.
- Review physician's orders, lab requests, or follow-up needs with patients.
- Document services performed on appropriate forms.
- Dress wounds as instructed and apply compresses, ice, and heat packs.
- Observe patients and report adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel.
- Administer specified medications orally or by injection, noting time and amount on patients' charts.
- Assemble and use clinic equipment.
- Collect samples from patients for testing and perform routine laboratory tests on samples.
- Sterilize equipment and supplies, clean rooms, and change linens.
- Maintain supplies, including stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
- Respond to patient or client telephone inquiries and evaluate their problems and questions.
- Follow up with patients who miss appointments and on lab results, including scheduling additional tests.
- Coordinate referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices.
Requirements
- Graduate of National League for Nursing accredited program, Associate's degree (A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Licensed as a Practical Nurse.
- Current hands-on Certification in Basic Life Support is required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support may also be required based on scope of contract services.
