About the position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Recovery Centers of America (RCA) plays a crucial role in the treatment and recovery of patients dealing with addiction. This position involves planning, directing, and coordinating medically approved programs for patients in various healthcare settings. The LPN will assess patient conditions, develop care plans, and collaborate with a treatment team to ensure comprehensive care. The role is integral to helping patients understand their disease and the importance of treatment, while also maintaining a safe environment for both staff and patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the physiological and behavioral health status of the patient.
  • Complete initial assessment and develop the plan of care.
  • Recognize, report, and act upon deviations in diagnostic studies.
  • Accurately assess and document vital signs and signs of pain, ensuring treatment of pain.
  • Communicate and document client's psychosocial status.
  • Collaborate with treatment team and ancillary departments to determine appropriate treatment/discharge plan.
  • Assist the client in understanding the nature of the disease of addiction and the need for treatment.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
  • Complete necessary documentation as required by organization Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate records of patient treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results.
  • Follow established policies for verification of narcotic counts.
  • Administer medications according to organization policy and verify the MAR for correct medication and administration times.
  • Monitor behavioral changes related to medication administration.
  • Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and the public.

Requirements

  • Up to date and active State Practical Nursing license is required.
  • One year of experience in a substance abuse treatment or behavioral hospital is preferred.
  • Knowledge of health care, detoxification process, addiction, co-occurring disorders, and DSM Criteria.
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and get clarification; respond well to questions; demonstrate group presentation skills; and participate in meetings.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
