About the position

UPMC is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our outpatient Family Medicine Office located in Lock Haven, PA. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to provide professional nursing care to office patients under the supervision of patient care providers. The LPN will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care while adhering to the standards and regulations set forth by various healthcare agencies. The role requires working during scheduled office hours, which include Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturday mornings on a rotating schedule every seventh week from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Sundays are designated as closed days. In addition to the regular duties, this position is currently eligible for a generous sign-on bonus, making it an attractive opportunity for both recent graduates and experienced LPNs looking for a new challenge. The sign-on bonus is structured based on experience, offering $5,000 for those with 0-1 years of experience and $7,500 for those with 1+ years of experience, both requiring a two-year commitment. The LPN will play a crucial role in patient care by performing various tasks such as drawing blood, administering medications, assisting physicians with examinations, and documenting all patient interactions. The ideal candidate will be committed to maintaining patient confidentiality and promoting wellness through effective communication and education.

Responsibilities

  • Draw blood.
  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM, and IV drip.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
  • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP).
  • Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
  • Act 33 with renewal.
  • Act 34 with renewal.
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
