About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Prevention of Amputation for Veterans Everywhere position at the Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System is responsible for providing nursing care to patients in the Podiatry PAVE clinics. The LPN will perform patient care duties, including foot care for at-risk patients, under the direction of a Podiatrist, while also managing administrative tasks to ensure efficient clinic operations. This role requires the LPN to observe, record, and report changes in patients' conditions and participate in developing holistic care plans.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Full, active, current, and unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a state or territory of the U.S.
  • Graduation from a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate state agency.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to perform specialized patient care duties and assist in developing treatment plans.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic foot care experience and certification.
  • Experience working with Podiatry patients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing care in the Podiatry PAVE Clinic, including foot care for at-risk patients.
  • Manage workload according to shifting priorities and set appropriate priorities between clinical and administrative functions.
  • Accurately enter patient information in the DHCP, including CPT and ICD-9 codes.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to coordinate patient care.
  • Document care and patient responses thoroughly and timely.
  • Perform standardized non-invasive procedures, including debridement of toenails and wound care.
  • Assist with procedures in the clinic and provide treatments as ordered and trained.
  • Evaluate condition changes and report observations to the Podiatrist.
  • Fit compression hose, diabetic shoes, and foot prosthetics as needed.
