About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (Tele-Dermatology) position at Bay Pines, FL, involves performing complex nursing assignments under general supervision, focusing on the treatment, observation, and care of Veterans. The role requires independent technical judgment and a comprehensive understanding of nursing practices, particularly in dermatology. The LPN will assist in managing the Dermatology Clinic, facilitate patient flow, and provide education to patients, all while ensuring high standards of care and ethical practices.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical or vocational nursing.
  • Full, active, current, and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required.
  • Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Over 2 years of dermatology experience.
  • Procedural experience and sterile field setup experience.
  • Strong technology skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outpatient specialty clinic experience of 1-2 years.
  • 1 year of Tele-Derm experience.
  • Previous experience in Telehealth.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable to the Nurse Manager and works under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Responsible for the treatment, observation, and care of Veterans within the scope of LPN functions.
  • Assist in the overall management of the Dermatology Clinic, supporting Specialty and PACT clinics.
  • Facilitate patient flow and ensure thorough check-in and checkout processes.
  • Provide patient education and instructions.
  • Demonstrate independent technical judgment and knowledge of complex nursing practices.
  • Assist RN and/or Provider in prioritizing Veteran care needs and adjusting care delivery plans.
  • Recognize subtle signs of drug reactions and inform RN/Provider of changes in Veteran's condition.
  • Document care delivered and Veteran's response accurately and thoroughly.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles among Veterans and their families.
  • Administer prescribed medications/treatments accurately and record responses.
  • Contribute to the development and modification of the Veteran's health/treatment plan.
  • Seek educational opportunities to enhance nursing knowledge and skills.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to other nursing staff.
