About the position

The Telehealth Clinical Technician (TCT) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in supporting Telehealth clinical programs within the Department of Veterans Affairs. This position involves providing a variety of clinical and technical services to Veterans, demonstrating complex technical judgment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or provider. The TCT LPN is responsible for facilitating Telehealth encounters, educating patients about available services, and ensuring compliance with health regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the site imager for Telehealth Store and Forward (S&F) applications.
  • Facilitate real-time Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT) encounters, including patient education activities.
  • Coordinate information between providers, facilities, and networks as appropriate.
  • Perform tele-dermatology, tele-retinal, and other imaging with accuracy and dexterity.
  • Ensure patient consent for imaging and document in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Maintain an accurate calendar of CVT and S&F clinics.
  • Process Telehealth consults and correct orphan encounters.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of Telehealth peripherals and ensure proper cleaning of equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Graduated from a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a state or territory of the U.S.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently and make critical decisions in stressful environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 1 year of Telehealth Clinical Technician (TCT) experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification or equivalent with performance improvement/project management experience.
