About the position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at the Mt. Vernon Developmental Center involves administering nursing care under the direction of registered nurses and physicians. The role focuses on providing support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their health and safety, and facilitating community participation. The LPN will perform various nursing tasks, maintain patient records, and assist in emergencies, all while adhering to the standards set forth by the Ohio Revised Code.
Responsibilities
- Administers nursing care within the scope of practice as defined by Ohio law.
- Maintains medication accountability records and observes, documents, and reports patient conditions.
- Provides general nursing care and assists with daily living activities for patients.
- Orders medication and medical supplies, and performs clerical tasks related to nursing duties.
- Provides assistance and training to lower-level direct care staff.
- Participates in various meetings and training programs as assigned.
Requirements
- License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- MDS certification issued by ANNAC (American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination).
- Knowledge of skilled licensed practical nursing procedures, pharmacology, and client/patient care.
Nice-to-haves
