About the position

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Homestead of Shawnee, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients. Working under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for implementing care plans tailored to each patient's needs. This position requires you to engage in regular communication with patients and their families, ensuring they are informed about the patient's progress and any necessary education regarding their care. You will also be tasked with reviewing and maintaining all clinical records essential for the patient's care and progress, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up-to-date. In addition to direct patient care, you will be responsible for monitoring compliance with state and federal regulations. This includes reviewing weekly reports to ensure that both personal and staff practices adhere to safety protocols, including those related to blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, infection control, and fire safety. Your role is crucial in fostering a safe and supportive environment for both patients and staff, and you will be an integral part of our healthcare team, collaborating with physicians, family members, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care. Responsibilities

  • Provide care to patients in accordance with their care plans.
  • Communicate with patients and families regarding education and progress of the patient.

Requirements

  • Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with patients and families.
  • Ability to maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
  • Knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in long-term care or rehabilitation.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.
