The Mind Research Network is seeking a PRN (per diem) Nurse to join the laboratory of Dr. Jon Houck. This position is integral to supporting ongoing federally-funded clinical research projects. Both Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and Registered Nurses (RN) are encouraged to apply for this role. The Nurse will play a crucial role in assisting study staff with determining the medical eligibility of participants for various studies. This includes conducting medical screening visits, performing medication side effect assessments, and ensuring patient safety by assessing any side effects that may arise. If necessary, the Nurse will triage participants for additional medical care, assist in scheduling follow-up medical visits, and review and sign off on screening laboratory tests. Additionally, the Nurse may be responsible for monitoring study participants during laboratory visits, which includes monitoring vital signs and performing other related study duties as required or assigned. This is a PRN position, meaning that the hours will be arranged as needed, providing flexibility in scheduling. However, it is important to note that this position is not eligible for benefits. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Licensed Practical Nursing license valid in the State of New Mexico, along with at least two years of demonstrated nursing experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that has equipped them with comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities. The Nurse must be able to understand and follow basic scientific research protocols and procedures, demonstrating the clinical skills necessary to effectively support research participants. A participant-service approach and appropriate demeanor are essential in this clinical research environment.
