The Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate provides high quality professional counseling services for assigned clients. This role involves utilizing counseling and diagnostic skills to conduct intake evaluations, formulate a diagnostic summary, and facilitate the creation of a person-centered recovery plan while identifying additional needs and barriers to be addressed. The counselor also facilitates the formulation of safety, crisis, and transition plans, and provides individual, parent, and family counseling consistent with the recovery plan and utilization management guidelines. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the counselor may provide consultation to case managers, care coordinators, skills trainers, and peers. Responsibilities may include performing crisis assessments, immediate crisis interventions, and making recommendations or referrals for crisis resolution. All services and activities must be documented per established agency guidelines. The counselor serves as a resource regarding mental health and substance use for other personnel, both internally and from other agencies, and may facilitate training opportunities regarding mental health and co-occurring disorders and best-practice programs.
