About the position

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. The incumbent will spend approximately 25% of their time providing clinical services to Veterans to include weekend, holiday, evening, and night on-call services. These clinical duties include general clinical Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor services for adult Veterans and may include, but are not limited to, consult reviews, clinical reviews, peer review, conducting evaluations, and medication management. The incumbent will also be on-call 24/7, including weekends and holidays for administrative concerns in the Behavioral Health service. It is also expected the incumbent should be able to present on campus within 60 minutes of the clinical or administrative task. Common patient diagnoses are anxiety disorders, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depression and other mood disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and other Serious Mental Illnesses, Dementias, and mental disorders related to Traumatic Brain Injury. The population served consists of female and male Veterans from all military eras. Most patients are treated in an outpatient setting but consultation services are provided to inpatients and to residents of the Community Living Center and RRTP at the Marion campus. The work requires an administrative and practical understanding of mental health treatment settings. The incumbent must possess the analytical ability to research, assemble, and compile information and data, evaluate the results against appropriate standards, and recommend corrective action where indicated.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical services to Veterans including weekend, holiday, evening, and night on-call services.
• Conduct evaluations and medication management.
• Perform consult reviews, clinical reviews, and peer reviews.
• Be on-call 24/7 for administrative concerns in the Behavioral Health service.
• Present on campus within 60 minutes of a clinical or administrative task.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Hold a master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a related field from a CACREP accredited program.
• Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• May be required to serve a probationary period.
• Subject to background/security investigation.
