About the position

The Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (LPMHC) Supervisor leads the New Patient Access Team (NPAT) within Behavioral Health Services, focusing on managing new patient requests and ensuring quality care delivery. This role involves overseeing program management, clinical responsibilities, and academic training, while also ensuring compliance with relevant standards and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the New Patient Access Team (NPAT) in Behavioral Health Services.
  • Plan, establish, and implement policies and procedures for the NPAT throughout the El Paso VA Health Care System.
  • Supervise staff for assigned programs and develop individual or group goals and objectives.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and coordinate services in assigned programs for EPVAHCS.
  • Exercise administrative, programmatic, clinical, and academic oversight of assigned programs.
  • Coordinate and integrate programs to meet the needs of the Veteran population.
  • Conduct patient care needs assessments and identify service gaps.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and professional standards for assigned programs.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and VHA performance measures.
  • Provide clinical consultation and oversee academic programs within the BH Service Line.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Hold a master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • At least one year of progressively complex experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.

  • Skill in managing new patient walk-ins and crises.
  • Skill in managing complex consult processes.
  • Skill in collaborating with outside departments.
