About the position

The Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (LPMHC) position at the Veterans Health Administration in Coatesville, PA, is responsible for providing a full range of specialized psychological services to veterans with serious mental illnesses (SMI). This role involves conducting intake evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and various forms of psychotherapy, while also collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care. The counselor will develop culturally sensitive treatment plans and engage in program planning and performance improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides specialized psychological services for veterans with SMI, including intake evaluations and psychotherapy.
  • Collaborates and advocates for veterans and their families.
  • Engages in accreditation-related activities and tracks relevant data.
  • Develops person-centered treatment plans addressing mental health needs.
  • Consults with other professionals regarding mental health services.
  • Ensures a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care.
  • Completes assigned performance improvement activities and participates in medical record reviews.
  • Attends administrative meetings and contributes to program planning.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Must hold a master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Must have a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor.
  • Experience in mental health counseling, particularly with adults diagnosed with severe mental illnesses is preferred.
