About the position

The Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor position at the Veterans Health Administration in Fayetteville, NC, involves providing essential mental health services to eligible veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. The role focuses on readjustment counseling, community outreach, and care coordination, ensuring that clients receive comprehensive support for military-related psychological and psychosocial issues. The counselor will conduct assessments, develop individualized service plans, and provide direct counseling services while collaborating with community resources to enhance the well-being of clients.

Responsibilities

  • Complete intake screening and assessment procedures for readjustment counseling.
  • Develop and update individualized readjustment counseling service plans.
  • Provide direct readjustment counseling services to eligible Veterans.
  • Conduct risk assessments and crisis interventions for Veterans in need.
  • Coordinate care and link Veterans with community services and resources.
  • Maintain coordination with outreach workers for seamless service referrals.
  • Participate in staff meetings to promote team cohesion and development.
  • Document all clinical interactions and care coordination activities.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor.
  • At least one year of post-master's or post-doctoral degree mental health counseling experience.
