About the position

The Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (LPMHC) position at the Department of Veterans Affairs Coesville VA Medical Center involves providing specialized psychological services to veterans with severe mental illness (SMI). The role includes conducting intake evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and various forms of psychotherapy, while also collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care. This position is permanent, full-time, and offers opportunities for professional development and participation in the Educator Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of specialized psychological services for veterans with SMI.
  • Conduct intake evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
  • Deliver psychotherapy (individual, group, or family) and patient education.
  • Collaborate and advocate for veterans and their families.
  • Engage in accreditation-related activities and track relevant data and metrics.
  • Develop person-centered, culturally sensitive treatment plans.
  • Consult with other professionals regarding mental health services.
  • Ensure a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care.
  • Complete assigned Performance Improvement activities.
  • Participate in administrative and informational meetings.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Hold a master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Possess a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to engage in intake and assessment, problem identification, diagnosis, treatment planning, and implementation.
