About the position

The Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor (Program Coordinator) is responsible for managing an 18-bed behavioral health service that provides integrated, multidisciplinary residential substance use rehabilitation, along with a 9-bed Transitional Residence service. This role involves defining the mission of the units, developing clinical staff's scope of practice, implementing best-practice programming, and enacting quality improvement measures in compliance with regulatory mandates and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement short and long-range program goals for substance use disorder (SUD) programs.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for all aspects of the RRTP program's operation and treatment services.
  • Systematically review RRTP and CWT-TR activities to maintain professional service standards.
  • Develop documentation and reporting standards for patient clinical records to ensure compliance with JC and VAMC requirements.
  • Coordinate admissions for the unit to ensure timely access and appropriate admissions.
  • Represent Grand Island SARRTP & CWT-TR in clinical and administrative meetings, conference calls, and community events.
  • Submit reports to top management, VA Central Office, and the Substance Abuse Program Evaluation Center.
  • Plan and implement corrective actions when programs are found deficient by internal or external review organizations.
  • Provide direct clinical supervision to RRTP and CWT-TR staff, excluding nurses, physicians, and psychologists.
  • Evaluate staff performance and take disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Provide day-to-day direction for program assistants and therapists in the RRTP and CWT-TR.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Hold a master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or a related field from a CACREP accredited program.
  • Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor.
  • At least one year of progressively complex experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in a major specialty treatment program area.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and practice guidelines for the program.
