About the position

Lake Tahoe Preparatory School is seeking a Licensed School Therapist to provide therapeutic support to students in a residential setting. The therapist will conduct individual and group therapy sessions, manage emotional crises, and collaborate with the clinical team to ensure student safety and well-being. This role is ideal for a caring and versatile individual who enjoys outdoor recreation and is committed to supporting teenagers in their personal growth.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual therapy with identified students
• Facilitate group therapy sessions
• Provide family therapy as needed
• Perform therapeutic assessments and evaluations
• Maintain therapeutic notes and records
• Consult with outside professionals
• Manage conflict resolution with students and/or staff
• Handle emotional crisis management and determine student personal safety
• Fulfill mandated reporting responsibilities as needed
• Participate in treatment team conference calls
• Communicate daily with students, staff, and families
• Assist in determining consequences for students
• Lead and assist in staff training and support
• Attend clinical team, residential life, and faculty meetings
• Weekend 'On Duty' responsibilities

Requirements

• Licensed therapist in California
• Master's Degree as a therapeutic clinician
• Therapeutic experience working with teenagers in a residential setting
• Caring and friendly demeanor with firm boundaries
• Versatile individual who enjoys teamwork
• Interest in outdoor recreation and mountain sports
• Interest in skiing and/or snowboarding

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in counseling (5 years preferred)
