About the position

The Licensed Small Commercial Inside Sales Consultant at The Hartford is a vital role within the Small Commercial Inside Sales Team, responsible for driving new business growth by selling property and casualty insurance products to small business owners. This position emphasizes a customer-focused approach, requiring strong sales skills and the ability to build relationships in a competitive marketplace. The role operates in a hybrid model, allowing flexibility while ensuring collaboration with peers and leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Take inbound phone calls on warm leads, pre-qualify and classify applicants, and provide coverage consultation to small business owners.
  • Sell small commercial lines products including Business Owner's Policy (BOP), Workers Compensation, Commercial Automobile, Professional Liability, and Bonds.
  • Work as an effective team member in a high-performing sales culture.
  • Act with confidence, prioritize and manage desk while delivering timely outcomes to customers.
  • Operate with a customer-focused approach, delivering excellent service and providing tailored insurance solutions.
  • Partner with the Inside Sales Underwriting team on complex risks to write profitable business.

Requirements

  • Active commercial Property & Casualty license is required.
  • Two or more years of Property & Casualty experience is preferred, with call center experience valued.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Strong sales acumen with the ability to negotiate and sell difficult messages.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Competitive nature and strong desire to win.
  • Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
