About the position

The Licensed Therapist position at La Amistad Behavioral Health Services involves providing therapeutic services to adolescents in a residential treatment facility. The role focuses on conducting individual and group therapy sessions, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and developing treatment plans tailored to the needs of residents. The therapist acts as a primary contact for residents and their families, advocating for their needs and coordinating discharge planning.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and family psychotherapy sessions for residents on their caseload at least one time per week as part of the therapeutic process.
  • Conduct general psychotherapy sessions for residents' in-group caseload at least four times per week, demonstrating a high level of clinical skill in assessing clinical needs and determining appropriate group interventions.
  • Conduct specialized groups as assigned based on education, training, and experience.
  • Establish rapport, systematically gather data, and determine client's readiness for treatment and change.
  • Analyze and interpret relevant data to determine treatment recommendations and priorities.
  • Coordinate with treatment team, family, and residents in family caseload and implement discharge planning.
  • Understand Common Psychiatric Diagnoses and recognize associated behaviors, using proper intervention techniques.
  • Document as required by facility policy.
  • Evaluate and demonstrate for age-specific behaviors, motor skills, and psychological norms, recognizing patient's level of psychosocial development and modifying approach accordingly.

Requirements

  • Education: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling, or other related fields.
  • Experience: One year direct clinical experience specific to family, individual, and group therapy with children and/or adolescents.
  • License/Certification: Current license from the State of Florida, such as LCSW, LMFT, LMFTI, LMHC, or LMHCI.
  • Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills related to documenting assessments, treatment planning, and interventions.
  • Skills: Knowledge of individual, group, and family therapy dynamics and techniques as related to cultural, social, economic, communication, and role expectations within family systems.
  • Skills: Knowledge of clinical skills to assess treatment dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of specialized treatment modalities such as abuse reactive, sexual offending, substance abuse, sexual trauma, vocational, play therapy, art therapy, and relaxation therapy.
