About the position

The Licensed Therapist at Wichita Children's Home will provide therapeutic support to youth in care, focusing on trauma recovery and emotional regulation. This role involves facilitating group therapy sessions, crisis intervention, and program design to ensure a therapeutic environment that promotes healing and self-actualization for children and youth who have experienced trauma.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily therapeutic group sessions focused on trauma recovery, relationship building, self-discovery, and emotional regulation.
• Support youth in residential programs through empathic listening and effective communication.
• Maintain professional boundaries while providing compassionate care.
• Engage in program design and implementation to enhance therapeutic care.
• React quickly and exhibit good judgment during emergencies or stressful situations.
• Utilize evidence-based practices that are trauma-responsive.
• Serve as a positive role model for youth through attitude, behavior, and appearance.

Requirements

• Licensed in social services or a related field.
• Two years of relevant experience; equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
• Must have a valid Kansas driver's license and be free of any major traffic violations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with trauma-informed yoga, mindfulness, and meditation.
• Skills in art therapy.
