About the position
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) position at Kaiser involves providing nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role emphasizes excellent customer relations, adherence to established policies, and the execution of various nursing interventions to ensure optimal patient care. This is a part-time, temporary position focused on family medicine, requiring the LVN to work rotating weekends.
Responsibilities
- Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable laws.
- Exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
- Provides therapeutic patient care as established by the physician and registered nurse.
- Transcribes physicians' orders as directed by policy.
- Communicates with registered nurse to institute changes in the plan of care.
- Administers specified medications and executes various treatments.
- Performs related patient care functions such as taking vital signs and applying dressings.
- Assists medical staff with examinations and treatments.
- Evaluates patients' conditions and initiates emergency procedures as necessary.
- Documents patient signs, symptoms, and treatments in medical records.
- Ensures cleanliness of the nursing module and proper functioning of equipment.
- Provides a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Participates in staff meetings and in-service programs.
- Assists in ordering and distribution of module supplies and equipment.
- Accepts verbal and telephone orders from physicians.
- Administers various therapies and suctioning procedures.
- Promotes customer service and quality relations with internal/external customers.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Six months recent medical office or acute care LVN experience.
- Vocational Nurse License (California).
- Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association.
- IV Therapy/Blood Withdrawal Certification.
Nice-to-haves
- Proficient with MS Excel and Word.
- AHA BLS and IV blood withdrawal certification required.
