About the position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) position at Kaiser involves providing nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role emphasizes excellent customer relations, adherence to established policies, and the execution of various nursing interventions to ensure optimal patient care. This is a part-time, temporary position focused on family medicine, requiring the LVN to work rotating weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable laws.
  • Exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Provides therapeutic patient care as established by the physician and registered nurse.
  • Transcribes physicians' orders as directed by policy.
  • Communicates with registered nurse to institute changes in the plan of care.
  • Administers specified medications and executes various treatments.
  • Performs related patient care functions such as taking vital signs and applying dressings.
  • Assists medical staff with examinations and treatments.
  • Evaluates patients' conditions and initiates emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Documents patient signs, symptoms, and treatments in medical records.
  • Ensures cleanliness of the nursing module and proper functioning of equipment.
  • Provides a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-service programs.
  • Assists in ordering and distribution of module supplies and equipment.
  • Accepts verbal and telephone orders from physicians.
  • Administers various therapies and suctioning procedures.
  • Promotes customer service and quality relations with internal/external customers.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Six months recent medical office or acute care LVN experience.
  • Vocational Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association.
  • IV Therapy/Blood Withdrawal Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient with MS Excel and Word.
  • AHA BLS and IV blood withdrawal certification required.
