About the position

The Licensing Coordinator at the National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) is responsible for maintaining annual re-certifications and ensuring the quality of foster homes. This role involves working closely with foster parents and community partners to provide advocacy and support, ultimately aiming for the safe and successful integration of youth into the community. The position requires a proactive approach to recruitment, training, and support of foster families, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies for viable licensed foster homes.
  • Support potential foster parents in understanding the needs of youth entering foster care.
  • Work with current, former, and prospective foster parents to retain families.
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings with each foster family to maintain licensure.
  • Assist foster parents in removing barriers in the licensing process.
  • Complete comprehensive home studies for families and submit for approval.
  • Maintain and update all foster home records in appropriate systems.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to licensed foster homes.
  • Complete annual evaluations and recertification of all licensed foster homes.
  • Prepare adoption finalization paperwork.
  • Travel daily to provide community-based services to youth and families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution.
  • 1 year of work experience in direct service with youth and families.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
  • Good driving record and minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability.

  • Assessor certifications preferred, with a willingness to obtain required certifications.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours in service of foster caregivers and families.
  • Excellent time management and relationship-building skills.
  • Good computer and technology skills.
