About the position

The Licensing Program Manager II (LPM II) / Regional Manager (RM) oversees the Sacramento Child Care Regional Office, responsible for evaluating and licensing community care facilities while enforcing regulations. This role involves direct supervision of Licensing Program Managers and clerical staff, ensuring compliance with licensing standards and effective regional operations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct activities of the regional office for licensing community care facilities.
  • Supervise one to six Licensing Program Managers and clerical staff.
  • Meet with licensees or representatives regarding regional implementation of regulations.
  • Make region-level decisions on proposed legal actions in collaboration with legal staff.
  • Approve or deny license application renewals, provisional licenses, and notices of operations in violation of the law.
  • Evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of licensing standards and provide input for modifications.
  • Develop regional procedures to implement established licensing policy and ensure uniform interpretation of regulations.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing licensing programs or similar regulatory functions.
  • Strong leadership skills to supervise and guide staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of community care regulations and licensing standards.
  • Ability to make informed decisions regarding legal actions and licensing approvals.
