The Lifecycle Asset Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the Lifecycle (LC) element of various P3 facilities. This role is crucial in ensuring a balance between the operational risk of asset renewal and the opportunity to generate returns for the company while maintaining a reserve for future requirements. Lifecycle management is a unique aspect of P3 projects, involving regular payments that cover both Lifecycle Maintenance and the renewal and replacement of building assets as they reach the end of their life. This management approach is akin to capital planning, with the key distinction being that Johnson Controls International (JCI) holds and manages the Lifecycle funds, retaining any unspent funds, which functions similarly to insurance. JCI manages Lifecycle on a portfolio basis, treating it as a separate profit and loss (P&L) entity that is jointly administered by the sites and the LC team in accordance with Lifecycle Management protocols. For the year 2024, the consolidated LC plan is projected to generate US$41.7 million in revenue and US$9.1 million in margin, using Canadian foreign exchange rates applicable at that time. As a subject matter expert, the Lifecycle Asset Manager provides guidance and direction to JCI's Operations and Maintenance (O&M) staff regarding lifecycle delivery and planning for individual or groups of sites, focusing on risk mitigation and the preservation of funding. Additionally, this role encompasses fiscal planning, forecasting, and updating specialized Lifecycle Management tools. The Lifecycle Asset Manager will provide leadership to the LC team and serve as a central point of expertise for JCI operational sites. Responsibilities include setting direction and ensuring consistency in management across the LC portfolio, strategically managing the LC business in collaboration with the JCI operations team and senior leadership, and ensuring that LC delivery and funding approvals align with JCI processes. This role requires maintaining proactive relationships with site teams, understanding project business needs, and communicating these needs to JCI management. The Lifecycle Asset Manager will also review and recommend fund releases for LC projects, assist in developing project budgets, and communicate operational philosophies and expectations to the O&M staff to enhance their understanding of the LC business workstream. Furthermore, the role involves managing day-to-day and long-range activities for assigned properties, establishing performance metrics, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
