About the position

The Life Enrichment Coordinator at Homestead of Shawnee is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive activity program that caters to the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of the residents. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for residents by ensuring that their interests and needs are met through various activities. The coordinator will work closely with residents, their families, and staff to develop engaging programs that promote social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation. The position requires a commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment, adhering to all community policies, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. In addition to planning and implementing activities, the Life Enrichment Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation as required by regulations. This includes contributing to the Minimum Data Set and participating in care planning and assessments. The coordinator will also play a key role in recruiting and managing volunteers, fostering community involvement, and organizing staff functions to boost morale. The position demands a proactive approach to monitoring compliance with safety regulations and ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe manner. The Life Enrichment Coordinator must be adaptable and willing to work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the residents. This role is vital in helping residents achieve their highest practical level of well-being through restorative programs and engaging activities that enrich their lives.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with the Community's personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Report witnessed or reported allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Executive Director, RCC or Unit Manager.
  • Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Responsible for planning and implementing activities to meet resident's specific needs, including large groups, small groups and individual participation.
  • Maintain documentation as required by State and Federal regulations.
  • Responsible for input on Minimum Data Set, participation in plan of care and other assessments and updates.
  • Responsible for delivering the residents mail, newsletters and other Community information.
  • Coordinated recruitment, retention and involvement of volunteers with residents.
  • Coordinate community involvement in the Community.
  • Plan staff functions and activities to increase staff morale.
  • Monitors personal and staff compliance to all State and Federal regulations including blood borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous material and fire safety.
  • Help coordinate restorative programs that enhance the residents' lives and allows them to reach their highest practical level of physical and psycho-social well-being.

Requirements

  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • If required to operate a motor vehicle for business purposes, must successfully complete the requirements contained in Company's Motor Vehicles policy.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to perform the essential position functions of the job with, or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Employee is required to use a transfer/gait belt or to obtain the assistance of another employee when attempting to assist residents when lifting or carrying objects in excess of 25 pounds.
