About the position
The Life Enrichment Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents facing memory challenges, such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease. This position involves collaborating with the Director of Life Enrichment and Memory Support to plan and execute engaging activities that promote cognitive stimulation, social interaction, and emotional well-being. The specialist will create a supportive environment that fosters comfort and security for residents during activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Life Enrichment and Memory Support in planning and executing activities for residents.
- Implement activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being for residents with Alzheimer's Disease or dementia.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment for residents during activities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and behavioral changes during activities.
- Demonstrate empathy and understanding when engaging with residents.
- Effectively communicate with residents, families, and team members regarding activity schedules and updates.
- Organize and maintain an inventory of activity equipment and supplies.
- Participate in training programs and ongoing education related to memory support.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in senior care, education, child development, activities coordination, or restorative therapy is preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Degree in a related field is preferred.
