About the position

The Life Enrichment Specialist at Affinity Healthcare is responsible for implementing, coordinating, and directing therapeutic and educational programs that enhance the daily life experiences of residents. This role focuses on providing leisure and life skills activities, including art, music, culinary skills, and exercise, to meet the diverse needs of residents in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate group and individualized programming and activities for residents that meet their social, intellectual, physical, and spiritual needs.
  • Assist in the development of individual weekly goals and interventions.
  • Participate in treatment plans, therapeutic activity plans, and treatment interventions for assigned residents.
  • Document resident behaviors, responses to interventions, and outcomes consistent with treatment plans.
  • Escort or transport patients inside the facility or to off-campus appointments.
  • Provide effective behavioral and crisis intervention as needed for residents.
  • Assist in the development of the monthly activities calendar and special events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or Activity Assistant Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a social or recreational program, with full-time experience in an activities/life enrichment program in a healthcare setting.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in the use of computer and technology systems.
  • Outgoing, energetic, and able to engage participants in leisure activities.
  • Ability to work effectively with residents of various ages and abilities.
  • Familiarity with crisis intervention techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with residents with neurological and behavioral health diagnoses.
  • Strong observational skills to detect changes in symptoms and behaviors.
