About the position

As a Senior Actuarial Analyst at COUNTRY Financial, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining actuarial models that are essential for designing and pricing life, health, and annuity products. This position requires a deep understanding of actuarial principles and the ability to apply them effectively in a business context. You will be expected to utilize your expertise to consult with and influence management on various strategic decisions that impact product pricing, modeling, profitability, underwriting, administration, and risk management. Your role will involve direct communication with different functional areas to ensure that projects are completed on time and meet the necessary standards. In this position, you will be proficient with actuarial pricing models and will be expected to work independently on complex tasks. Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines is essential, as you will ensure that contracts and annual testing, such as illustration regulations, are compliant. You will also be responsible for communicating your findings and results to management, whether verbally, in writing, or through presentations. Documentation of your work will need to adhere to the actuarial standards of practice, ensuring transparency and accountability in your analyses. Continued professional development is encouraged, and you will be expected to work towards obtaining your actuarial designation from the Society of Actuaries. This commitment to professional growth is vital in maintaining the high standards expected in this role and in the broader actuarial community.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain actuarial models for life, health, and annuity products.
  • Consult and influence management on product pricing, modeling, profitability, underwriting, administration, and risk management.
  • Communicate results to management through verbal, written, and presentation formats.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines regarding contracts and annual testing.
  • Document work according to actuarial standards of practice.
  • Work towards obtaining actuarial designation from the Society of Actuaries.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of pricing experience with life and/or annuity products.
  • Strong technical skills in actuarial modeling and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Completion of most coursework for attaining Associateship (ASA) with 5-6 exams/online courses.
  • Typically requires 7 years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education, and training.
