About the position

The Life Safety and Security Officer at Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington DC is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of employees, visitors, contractors, and patients while providing exceptional customer service. This role involves monitoring the premises, responding to incidents, and maintaining a secure environment through various security protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Periodically patrol Health Center and grounds to detect possible threats, unauthorized persons/vehicles, suspicious packages or damage to property.
• Warmly greet all visitors and assist them in signing in on the Visitor Management System.
• Issue Visitor Badges and ensure visitors are escorted to the appropriate location.
• Adhere to security access control procedures and verify identity and employment status using the Security Access Control System.
• Respond to incidents during shifts, ensuring appropriate action is taken and reports are completed.
• Maintain constant surveillance of the building and security cameras.
• Assist with building emergencies such as evacuations and fire alarms.
• Keep the reception area orderly at all times.
• Write detailed and accurate incident reports, noting unusual activities and resolutions.
• Monitor visitor movement and ensure all entering the building are authorized.
• Promote good public relations through courteous and professional interactions with employees and guests.
• Enforce building rules and policies.
• Participate in all required orientation and training programs.
• Conduct security, customer service, or support functions as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years prior experience in the security industry, law enforcement, military, and customer service highly desirable.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to get to/from work and other PPMW sites.
• Moderate knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office software desired.
• Must be able to lift 80lbs and handle extensive walking, pushing, bending, etc.
