About the position

The Life Science Engineer - Level 1 is responsible for performing and documenting maintenance and repair of research and clinical laboratory equipment with minimal supervision. This role requires a strong understanding of electronic and mechanical systems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively. The engineer will interact with both company personnel and client staff, ensuring high-quality service and adherence to established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform general troubleshooting and repairs to the component level.
  • Independently perform installations, calibrations, qualifications, and planned maintenance with minimal technical direction.
  • Properly use and maintain all standard test equipment.
  • Read, analyze, interpret, and follow signal flow on blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Exercise good system troubleshooting skills.
  • Maintain parts stock and on-demand orders for PM/Repairs.
  • Perform manufacturer-mandated equipment modifications and complete the required paperwork.
  • Perform all system service diagnostics on applicable products.
  • Administer assigned work orders in the CMMS system (RENOVOLive).
  • Maintain service records and ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Process travel and other expenses accurately while following company policy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, A.S. and/or B.S. Degree in Chemistry/Sciences or Biomedical or Electronics Technology or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the service and maintenance of research, laboratory, or medical equipment.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to establish good customer rapport are essential.
  • Ability to work independently within the customer location.
